From humble beginnings way back in the early 1970’s St Mary’s College has become one of the most
successful second level Colleges in the game of second level soccer in Ireland. Since its inception St
Mary’s College Galway have won ten Connacht Senior ‘A’ Cup
(1980,1984,1988,1994 ,2001,2002,2006,2008,2010,2012) and four All Ireland Senior ‘A’ titles
(1988,2001,2006 and 2010) and two U-16 ‘A’ all Ireland titles in 1994 and 1995 in addition to winning
a plethora of Connacht Cups in all age groups, the 1990’s saw St Mary’s complete virtually all U-16
(Junior) Connacht Cup finals while the 2000’s saw St Mary’s as the major force in the coveted Connacht
Senior ‘A’ Cup. In 1995 St Mary’s by virtue of winning the U-16 All Ireland in Galway traveled to Germany and represented Ireland in the World Cup for secondary schools in Duisburg in the Ruhr region.
Soccer is now part of the mainstream in St Mary’s College and its popularity which was never in doubt
has been proven time and time again
